This project is a practice in restraint and organization. The main house involved the complete demolition of a poorly laid-out home from 2008 that resembled a Hawaiian-colonial amalgamation. In its place, a balanced, formal Cape Cod-style home was proposed, featuring a formal entry pavilion as a hinge point for public and private spaces. To maintain existing view corridors and adhere to the client's budget, the new roof ridge was aligned with the existing, and the existing house's foundation and garage were utilized, replacing sweeping decks with formal gardens, lawns, and a sculpture garden. The project's highlight is a two-story beach house with a roof deck, guest quarters, and a beach lounge opening to an expansive deck and panoramic ocean views. Minimal work was done on this structure due to coastal regulations. Additional site work included a refreshed pool cabana and a new infinity-edged pool and spa above the ocean, enhancing the site's panoramic views within a contemporary coastal estate.
