The Demetrios home, located in the exclusive Birnam Wood Golf Club Community in Montecito, California, was transformed from a 1920s stone cottage into a contemporary gallery-style home. Tasked with preserving the historical essence of the original lemon packing plant pump house, we expanded the home from 2,288 to 4,170 square feet. The new design includes a living room, dining room, kitchen, and great room with 15-foot ceilings and 13-foot glass walls that disappear to blend indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly. The interior features luxurious furnishings and striking white volumes accented by Aris Demetrios’ sculptures and artworks by Roy Lichtenstein, Al Held, and James Rosenquist. The original cottage now houses a master suite, office, and additional bedrooms and baths, connected to the new great room via a large gallery. The result is an inspired and luxurious living space that beautifully showcases art and takes full advantage of the magnificent mountain vistas.
